CTP Case Management and Rehabilitation Services

Injury management in the NSW Compulsory Third Party scheme increasingly focuses on early identification of medical, rehabilitation and other needs of the claimant and the provision of those services on a reasonable and necessary basis to ensure the speedy return of the injured person to pre-injury function. The aim of Occupational Therapy Network case management and rehabilitation services is to maximise a person's return to functional independence following injury.

Each person is viewed as an individual and the injured person's pre-injury function and roles are taken into account. We work in partnership with the claimant, treating health professionals, carers, insurer and other relevant parties.

OT Network Intervention is:

  • Goal-directed
  • Outcome-focused
  • Evidence-based
Occupational Therapy CTP Rehabilitation Services include:

Initial Needs Assessment

Initial needs assessments are conducted in the claimant's home and the report documents information on the following areas:
  • A history of the injury, relationship of the injury to the accident, summary of treatment since the injury including relevant current medical issues and details of service providers
  • Claimant's pre-injury status (self care, domestic activity, access, relationships and roles, leisure)
  • Observed functional capacity and restrictions cross-referenced with claimant reported function
  • Identified barriers to resumption of pre-accident activity participation
  • Clinical interpretation of findings and recommendation of strategies to overcome the identified barriers
Development of Rehabilitation Plans

Rehabilitation Plans

  • Are developed in consultation with the injured person, family and treating professionals
  • Have an overall goal that is measurable, attainable and functional
  • List objectives that are measurable, attainable and functional using Motor Accident Authority (MAA) codes
  • Are clearly linked to barriers and strategies outlined in the Initial Needs Assessment Report
  • Have a review date
  • Are submitted for approval prior to commencement of service provision.
