Spiros Katzakis

Spiros’ occupational therapy experience spans 20 years within the public and private sectors both in Australia and the United States. Fulfilling a variety of roles within the injury management sector, Spiros has been responsible for providing direct patient care, independent evaluation and consultancy services and managing rehabilitation teams.

For more than a decade Spiros provided occupational therapy intervention as part of a multidisciplinary team, achieving great outcomes across a range of diagnostic groups for clients with neurological, cardiopulmonary, orthopaedic, and integumentary conditions.

Spiros gained extensive experience in supporting people across the age ranges with a broad range of disability and injury types within neonatal intensive care, adult intensive care, the skilled nursing unit, and acute care wards. Working in this environment provided Spiros with a detailed knowledge of the recovery process which allows him to offer tailored and effective intervention with injured clients.

Spiros has extensive knowledge of NSW statutory insurance bodies having provided workplace rehabilitation services (NSW WorkCover scheme) and more recently as a rehabilitation advisor (NSW CTP scheme) managing a portfolio of clients with major and catastrophic injuries, this has also enabled him to become familiar both with the Comcare and Lifetime Care Scheme (icare).

Combining knowledge, clinical skill and experience, Spiros pro-actively engages in early intervention, providing critical support to build clients confidence and effective restoration of capacity and function.  Spiros is committed to implementing a person-centred approach which empowers clients to achieve their goals and independence.

A background in management and working across a range of teams and environments has broadened Spiros’ skills in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.

As part of Occupational Therapy Network, Spiros’ role is multi-faceted including occupational therapy assessment and intervention; occupational medicolegal opinion; and case management within icare (Insurance & Care NSW), the CTP Scheme and NDIS.

Spiros is a registered occupational therapist and a member of OT Australia.
