Joe Heathcote's occupational therapy skills have been developed through comprehensive experience in the areas of adult rehabilitation, orthopaedics, degenerative neurological conditions, trauma, aging, spinal injuries, brain injuries, amputees, complex medical conditions, arthritis, dementia, soft tissue injury and palliative care. Her clinical experience spanning acute hospital care, brain injury service, primary and secondary rehabilitation is complemented by her experience in managing a community occupational therapy service.
Joe's goal-orientated approach has been honed through providing case management and occupational therapy to clients with varied requirements, multiple conditions and limited resources. With a good grounding in the relevant Australian Building Standards, she is adept at major and minor home modification having implemented solutions to difficult access issues and advising Housing NSW regarding suitable accommodation for people with disabilities.
Through ongoing management of community clients, Joe has developed a special interest in assisting spinal clients (high and low level) to maintain independence with the onset of aging and factors associated with long term disability.
Joe's diverse skills are utilised in her role with OT Network providing occupational therapy treatment, case management and expert opinion for medico-legal cases.
