Niki brings specialist skills in the assessment of clients with neurological impairment and high support needs. Prior to graduating, Niki was the recipient of the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation Research Scholarship and co-authored a research publication in the Journal of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Paediatrics.
Since graduating from the University of Queensland Niki has gained experience across the complete continuum of care including acute care, sub-acute/rehabilitation and community care. She has specialist skills in the assessment and treatment of adults who demonstrate a reduction in function because of physical, cognitive and/or perceptual impairment.
Niki has further specialist skills in the assessment of reasonable and necessary needs specifically surrounding the prescription of equipment. These skills were expanded and extensively utilised when she worked as the manager of a Program of Appliances for Disabled People (PADP) lodgement centre and when she was seconded to the NSW Department of Health as a State-wide Equipment Advisor and Senior Policy Officer.
Additionally, Niki maintains up to date skills and knowledge by continuing to work as a Senior Occupational Therapist at one of Sydney’s leading trauma hospitals specialising in vascular, neurological and orthopaedic/trauma rehabilitation.
Niki regularly attends conferences, workshops and seminars to remain current with evidence based practice. She is a member of the neurology focus group (OT Australia).
With Occupational Therapy Network, Niki provides opinion in medico-legal matters.
